The Obsession Continues…

I’m hooked on soup – what is the soup of the moment, you ask? Two words my friends…two words: Butternut Squash. I’ve been making it from scratch (you just steam the squash, puree with stock, create a rou, add milk and mix in the puree) and it’s daym tasty.

So this weekend was kinda nuts, I went out with the Voice staff on Friday night. It was supposed to be the executive staff but Ryan was super late in getting off work, and Erin wanted to come too. Basically it ended up just being a party night. So we sat around waiting for Ryan, but eventually got impatient and decided to go to a party out on 19th and Agate. Just as we hit Hilyard (which is like 20 paces from my studio) we see Sarah (who is a Voice staffer from last year). We stop off at this random Halloween party because the people usher us in, and then Ryan calls – he wants to know where we are. By this point we’re moving towards the intended party but all we tell Ryan is “we’re heading Eastbound on 18th” and miraculously he finds us. We turn a corner and he scares the shit out of us, just pops up and it like “Whatsup!” The party is fun, I have no booze but people are generous in Eugene and sympathetic to the cause of broke students so somehow I mooch two manhattans, a few beers (nice, like fat tire, not cheap like PBR), and Bethany decides to give me multiple swigs from her HUGE jug of red wine.

The Party poops out, Jen raids the pantry and steals a tin of sardines (which she keeps calling anchovies) and we start to walk home stopping only to draw lewd pictures on people’s frosted windshields. Jen decides to go to a later party and I decide to go with Sarah to her friend’s house way the hell out near the fairgrounds and as it turns out, they are just obnoxious (i’m sure the feeling was mutual) and that comes back to bite me in the ass on Sat. night when i see them at an 80’s party.

I Should Mention…

Musician, Elliot Smith commited suicide today. I am not surprised (we are talking about Elliot Smith, here) but I am saddened. Who knows what music he would have created, he was a talented guy and though I not a hardcore fan I think he deserves a mention for his creativty and artistic integrity.
