Bill Cunningham New York
For anyone who’s a fan of the ever-shifting currents of style and design Bill Cunningham’s work for the New York Times as the resident street photographer in the “On-the-Sreet” feature is a must-read/must-watch affair. What sets him apart is his uncanny ability ability to recognize trends and to highlight the discourse of design between high and low.
I read a profile piece that the New Yorker ran back in 2009 and I can distinctly recall being surprised to discover the focused, brilliant and seemingly somewhat lonely man behind the lens. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who found the story fascinating. Mr. Cunningham is now set to be the subject of a documentary “Bill Cunningham New York” and if the trailer is any indication it looks spectacular.
