WELCOME TO EUGENE:

It’s raining today in Eugene – I saw it coming – the weather has been building to this all week. I can’t help but laugh because today we have street fair and like clockwork the heavens opened up and poured on it.

So I have been incredibly busy the last few days: Monday was Yom Kippur and I have to say it started out like shit but ended up being a really good day. Basically, the Hillel asked this guy, who shall remain nameless, who is not a rabbi – just an well educated Jew to do the services. I was miserable, this guy did the most awful boring grueling chants ever, and he took forever (keep in mind I grew up going to a temple where these services took 4.5 hours, and it was still unbearable). Dahvi was with me and also this frosh girl Leah, who we met at Rosh Hashanna services. Then we found out that break the fast was going to be at Track Town pizza which is the worst pizza in town, Dahvi and Leah (myself as well) we completely pissed and decided to go get bagels and schmear like good Jews before the Voice meeting.

Our first meeting went pretty well, I’d like to see more older people since that’s what Ryan had wanted, but I think our newest issue is going to be killer. Dahvi picked up an article on the importance of hip hop culture in the 90’s and Leah (who was completely enthusiastic) got a feature about the emergence of Gay culture in the 90’s. I’m doing something on the dot-com explosion, but what exactly, I don’t know.

Yesterday and today have been nightmares of time, I have been seriously crunched by this deadline for my Womb Dialectic article and although Aaron has be completely a great editor, my sources have been very uncooperative. I can tell you right now – this term is going to be hell.
